Eine Woche nach dem offiziellen Patch-Dienstag von Microsoft, hat der Konzern wiederum 26 außerplanmäßige Patches für Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server und Windows RT zum Download bereitgestellt. Microsoft selber stuft diese Updates als “optional” ein, sie schließen also keine sicherheitsrelevanten Probleme. Der Zweck bzw. das zu behebende Problem des jeweiligen Patches wird auf der Microsoft Update-Seite nicht eindeutig erläutert, so lautet der Beschreibungstext der jeweiligen Updates: “Installieren Sie dieses Update, um Probleme in Windows zu beheben.” Auch über die Knowledge-Base erfährt man nicht viel mehr.
Also bleibt nur der Blick in jedes einzelne KB-Nummer der Updates, so zeigt sich, dass die optionalen Updates hauptsächlich kleinere Fehler im System fixen, wie z.B. BlueScreens, Handling diverser System-Abstürze, Bildschirmsettings, Bluetooth und WLAN-Probleme, Backupfunktionen auf Blueray-Medien und diverse auftretende Probleme beim Drucken u.a.
